Dumont Dunes OHV Area is located 31 miles (50 km) north of Baker on California Highway 127:

Access to the riding areas
There are TWO access roads. The main area is accessed from Dumont Dunes Road (see map below--click on the map for a large image). This is a dirt road which follows and crosses the Amargosa River (deep sand) leading to the main field of large dunes. Dumont Dunes Road is one mile north of the "Little Dunes" staging area. This smaller dune area is also a part of the Dumont Dunes OHV Area.

Riding Area
The open riding area is depicted on the map below. Closed areas include:
- Amergosa Canyon ACEC (Area of Critical Environmental Concern)
- Salt Creek Hills ACEC
- Death Valley National Park (West side of Hwy 127)
- Kingston Range Wilderness (East of historic T&T Rail Road)
- Silurian Valley (limited)

History
The historic Tonopah & Tidewater Rail Road passed through the Silurian Valley and east of the Dumont sand dunes on its way north through the Amargosa Canyon.
